4. Don't Climb Uluru (Ayres Rock)
In 2017, Australian National Parks decided to stop tourists and visitors from climbing Uluru. So, if you haven't already, you probably won't be able to try it for some time.
Uluru has long been sacred to its traditional custodians, the Anangu people who don't particularly like seeing tourists trampling on their sacred land.
In addition, as you climb to higher sections, the wind will get stronger, and the terrain will become steeper and slippery. By not climbing Ayres Rock, you can protect yourself in addition to respecting the cultural treasures.
5. Don't Joke About Aboriginal People
Australia upholds indigenous peoples. They are a people who often, due to their unique customs, culture, and historical origins, face hardships and harsh realities such as their land being confiscated.
So, even if you don't fully understand their culture, don't make fun of their traditions or customs. If you have a different opinion, it's best to keep it to yourself.
6. Don't brag or be arrogant
Even though Australia is an international center of business, tourism and wealth, it is not good to brag or act arrogantly.
Nobody likes someone who is arrogant and obnoxious. Australia is a society that values decency, hard work and humility. If you do this too often, you will quickly become isolated from the environment and close down your business opportunities.
Instead, be warm, sincere, and helpful. So, you will quickly find out how much Australians will open up to you.
7. Don't dress too casually or formally at a restaurant
Australians can be said to be relaxed and comfortable wearing casual clothes.
But, when they come to clubs and restaurants, they will dress appropriately for the occasion. No one wore sleeveless clothes or flip-flops, because they were only worn for the beach.
