INDOTRENDS.ID - PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) launched its new motorbike, namely the Yamaha Nmax Turbo, Wednesday 12 June 2024. This motorbike is a new competitor in the automotive market to dominate the large automatic market.
After being launched in Indonesia, the Yamaha Nmax Turbo 2024 fought directly with competitors such as the Honda PCX 160 and Honda ADV 160. The updates brought by the 'Tuning Fork' motorbike made it dare to compete with its competitors.
Not only changes to the interior, the Yamaha Nmax Turbo also gets a new feature package, namely 'Turbo'. But please note, the turbo in question is not a true turbo like those installed on cars.

- Dimensions
Yamaha Nmax Turbo is one of the newest variants from Yamaha which offers an elegant and sporty design. This motorbike has dimensions designed to provide maximum comfort and is suitable for use on various types of roads.
The dimensions of this latest Yamaha automatic are 1,935 mm long, 740 mm wide and 1,200 mm high. Apart from that, the motorbike also has a wheelbase of 1,340 mm, with a fairly high ground clearance of 135 mm.
- Design
Yamaha Nmax Turbo gets a body with a completely new design. At the rear, for example, the lights use a line model, with a slimmer shape. Gives a more minimalist impression.
Then moving on to the front, the front side of the motorbike no longer uses a stacked body style, but is made to fit together like the Xmax 250. Then, the appearance of the headlights has also changed with a fiercer design.
The lights are also sophisticated because apart from adopting LED technology, this motorbike's lights also use a dual projector model which is equipped with DRL.
- Machine
The Yamaha Nmax Turbo is still powered by a 155cc engine with Blue Core technology and Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), the engine produces a maximum power of 11.3 kW at 8000 rpm and peak torque of 14.2 Nm at 6500 rpm.
This machine is also equipped with a 'Turbo' system called Y-Shift which provides a choice of three acceleration modes: low, medium and high, for optimal performance in various driving situations. Apart from that, this motorbike is also equipped with a Yamaha Electric CVT (YECVT) system replacing the CVT previously used. This ensures a smooth and responsive transmission.
"YECVT replaces the function of the conventional mechanism on a CVT whose movement uses rollers, which use centrifugal force. This function is replaced with YECVT," said General Manager Marketing - Public Relations of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing, Antonius Widiantoro.
What is the Turbo Function?
YECVT is the turbo function described by Yamaha. This feature was then combined with Yshift. Yshift itself is an instant acceleration feature of the Yamaha Nmax Turbo which can be accessed via the button on the rider's left.
This Yshift performs instant acceleration like 'Turbo'. There are 3 levels to choose from, namely low, medium and high. Yamaha's internal test results state that the motorbike can accelerate faster when covering a distance of 200 meters compared to the previous Nmax.
This feature is suitable for operation when you want to overtake the vehicle in front, over an incline, or when driving a tandem.
Other Features
Yamaha Nmax Turbo 2024 is equipped with various advanced features for comfort and safety. Dual Channel ABS and Traction Control System (TCS) provide maximum braking control and stability. Rear suspension with sub-tank and wide tubeless tires improve driving comfort. LED lights with dual projectors ensure optimal lighting. The TFT screen with Y-Connect connectivity provides access to navigation and notifications from a smartphone. Other practical features include a power outlet, a 25-litre boot and a Smart Key System. Stop & Start System (SSS) helps save fuel.
